Highland Designs was established in January 2000 by Rod Acock, Sole Trader. I have spent my whole working life in the Construction Industry starting as a junior in a small local Architect’s practice and graduating into consulting Civil Engineering which included Hydro Electric schemes in Scotland and Bridge works and track maintenance for British Rail.
From there I moved into Contractural Civil Engineering starting with Costain Civil Engineering on Motor Way and hospital construction and also with Miller Construction again on Road and Bridge construction. I also spent an enjoyable time as Project Manager for the construction of MacDermott’s Oil Rig Fabrication yard at Ardersier seeing the project from start to finish including major construction works for the launching of Oil Jackets. Throughout my career I have maintained my interest in Architecture and completed many small extension and other domestic projects in my spare time mainly for friends and acquaintances.
When I was asked to take on the design and arrange local authority approvals for B & Q Conservatories all over the Highlands and Islands including Moray, Aberdeenshire and Perth the need for a full time commitment to Architecture became necessary.
Since it’s inception Highland Designs have prepared and taken many projects from Client’s initial ideas through the design and changes to provide their ideal requirements and providing Planning and Building Warrant approvals and Completion. These Projects include conservatories of all styles, small and large house extensions many new build houses as well as steel industrial buildings and commercial properties. I am currently engaged in the upgrading and substantial extensions to a large Hotel in Wester Ross.
I would be very pleased to meet and discuss your project no matter how large or small and together reach a design that meets your every requirement and take it to final completion.
If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to get in touch and make your dreams come true.
